  1. HTML5 Banners, Facebook Integration & GPS Advertising – 2012 Predictions

Do you think people would be happy about ads that are targeted towards their interests even though it is taking information from their Facebook?
In my opinion, I would not be okay with this. I wouldn’t be okay with it because it is using my personal information without my consent and using it to their advantage to target me to buy their products. I am very alike Jade with this, my personal information is my own information, not someone else’s. However, I do believe some people won’t care and would actually enjoy it because it would mean less time researching because it would be right in front of them.

Do you think it is worth for people to stop using flash and use HTML5 instead?
Yes, I do believe it is best. HTML 5 is responsive then, not needing plugins which makes it much easier for the designers and the viewers.

Do you think people will find GPS advertising beneficial or would they just be annoyed by it?
I think people will at first think it’s awesome, but than after every company starts using it, people will get annoyed. In a way, the company is tracking you in order to target you when you are close to their store so that you will stop in and buy something. Notifications on my phone from facebook even annoy me and many other people, so why would I not get annoyed with the GPS advertising.

Interactive Media as a Marketing Tool

Do you think people are uncomfortable with their privacy being invaded with customer behavior tracking?
Yes I do believe so because it is invading the privacy act. Knowing the government is already watching every step we make, of course this would make people feel uncomfortable because it starts hitting on the freedom of our country. Is it really that free if we are being watching not only by the government but by major corporations just so they can make a bigger profit.

Do you agree that the interactivity of ads is very beneficial for companies?
Yes I do agree that is very beneficial, as long as they are doing it the correct way! I believe the Oreo ad we did in class is a huge example of a interactive ad done the correct way because it simply made us want to continue to interact with the ad for hours! We didn’t want to stop because every time we clicked cookie or cream it had a different asnwer.

Do you think interactive ads is effective on television?
I don’t think it would be effective on television stations targeting adults, because we want to sit down and relax when we are watching tv, not interact. Where as if these interactive ads were on tv for small children, then it would be great, it would get them up off the couch and it would amuse them.

Irrelevant Pop-Up Ads A Major Irritant to Consumers

Why do you think companies use pop-up ads even though most people find them annoying?
I believe companies use pop-up ads even though most people find them annoying because it gets the viewers attention. It may annoy the customer but it also makes them think about the product that just popped up.

Are ads on TV, websites, and emails effective even though most people find them annoying?
I do believe ads on tv, websites, and emails are effective. But I do believe TV ads are more effective during superbowl, or a highly watched show. Now a days people usually tivo shows or skip the commercials because they don’t want to be bothered where as during the superbowl, many people watch the game just to see the ads.

Can you relate to the people in this survey and are you one of those people who get annoyed by ads?
I could easily relate to these people in this survey! Ads, and pop up ads annoy me very much. I don’t want to be bothered by an ad when I am trying to get something done, never have I ever bought anything from an ad because that’s not my go-to way to purchase things.

    Re-Thinking In-Line Linking

Where do you think the most successful location for an ad would be on a website?
I believe the most successful location for an ad on a website would be on the top. Everyone is drawn to the top of the site whether it is because they want to search for another website, or navigate the site with the menus. The site opens at the top of the webpage, therefore the top of the site would make the most sense in being the most successful placement.

How do you seek information on the web?
I google it! I don’t seek information on the web through advertisements, as stated before. Google is my go to search engine because it is easy to navigate and easy to get the answers I need.

Do you agree with the main purposes of links that were listed?
Yes I do agree with the main purposes, especially the two that help the viewer understand the information better, and to support your argument. I don’t believe however the links keep me on the site longer, instead it navigates me away from it.
